1. Issue 2 has been published...so now onto Issue 3.

I was planning to do an article about sex in the furry fandom, after the Furry Sociological Survey has been published.

2. Alrighty! As usual it's a "do as you wish" approach. Though from the next issue everything will be laid out differently, so word limits have been effectively abolished!

3. I've had plans to expand on my 'Working the Fur' bit for the recent Issue 2. Next time I'll give more details and maybe add a tutorial for Issue 4 if that'd be ok. Could see about making up a suit to win in a competition for then as well...perhaps the one I make for the tutorial?

Wow. People are sure taking all this seriously! I mean, FT nor FMI even have a proper domain name yet! And we're discussing major prizes!

I think I outta set up a donation fund thing. Only problem is, I don't know how... :(

5. Here's something for the mediaphile section.

An article in The Metro has been published, and like The Sun article, is all about the sexual side of the fandom.

EDIT: I've just discovered something else. A furry musical has been written called, Furry Tales has been composed, to coincide with Anthrocon.

Article about musical

6. Thanks Chained Wolf!

Meanwhile a note to myself- a POSITIVE furry article!

7. Here's something quite interesting. On Radio 4, there are starting a new series of the radio sitcom About a Dog, starring Alan Davies in the role of a dog, called Jack, seeing the world through his eyes.

It starts on 10 July, at 6:30pm.

8. Heh, that Metro article. I sent a flaming great reply to it, but it'll get moderated out due to cussing and empty threats. I wonder why the pondscum for an author left their name blank? Coward. Anyway, here's what I posted. I'll blank out the swears for sensitive readers :p

"Wow, what an offensive article. What a poorly-researched, sensationalised, alienating, derogatory pile of s**t of an excuse masquerading as an 'article'. I mean, REALLY.

You, like what seems to be many, MANY sleaze-hungry journos, have purposely overlooked both a) the truth and b) the thoughts and feelings of furries. This article stinks more of 'let's laugh at these people' rather than it being a genuinely interesting report into how certain lifestyles operate. It's f***ing disgusting.

Firstly, I'm not denying that there's a sexual element to being a furry. It's a part of the culture for SOME furries, but not ALL. And yes, the basis for your article DOES happen, big f***in' deal! Just because YOU think it's 'perverted' doesn't mean other people DON'T find it 'perverted'.

Next time you feel like taking a pot-shot at something you find strange, yet know nothing about, do everyone a favour and pull your head from your nugget-encrusted a**e and get yourself some compassion."

I mean, I can take criticism from people who know what it's all about, it's all opinion at the end of the day. But when you blatantly set out to demonise something without a tiny bit of research on WTF you're on about in a vain attempt to become AN HERO,THAT gets my friggin' back up.

Aanyway, on topic... for ish 3, I'm thinking of tackling one of the following three topics:
* Furry Characters in Videogames
* The Furry Identity - What's It To You?
* ...Something else I've not thought of yet.

Also, I'm currently thinking about getting an exclusive interview with one of the fandom's biggest influences... won't say who, yet, but I'm hoping on contacting said person VERY soon. If I can pull it off, IT WILL BE MAJOR, MAJOR STUFF.

Plus, maybe thinking about axing 'The Doctor Is In' for 'Diesel Meets..'? Dunno, just throwing stuff around at the mo.

LONG POST IS LONG O.o

9. And angry writer is angry by the sounds of it. :P

Whoozit?

Hell, that even makes sense! Seeing as the ranting column was already passed on to someone you'll be meeting if you attend the Manchester meet on the 14th...

10. Some more news. On Wikipedia, there is now a Furry WikiProject. A WikiProject is where several members of Wikipedia dedicate themselves to working on certain groups of articles. So, members of the Furry WikiProject, deal mainly with articles about the furry fandom, or aspects of the fandom.

EDIT: URL is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Furry

11. Here's something we should report on. An episode of Entourage has shown furries in a somewhat negative light. To quote it:

Turtle: "What the fuck's a furry?"

Drama: "Someone who wants to fuck you like a stuffed animal."

WikiFur link

HBO page where you can email (and complain) about the show

12. Entourage? Ah, yes. That jet of effluent that gets shown on ITV2 at 2 in the morning. Given that their audience normally keys in at <10 people per ep, I think the amount of furries in the world FAIRLY outweighs anyone who's likely to take anything that's said within the show to be absolute fact. Meh. People are misinformed. Poorly, poorly misinformed.

Anywho, ish 3. Yeah, I'm still on about doing the interview, and I'm going into 'Radio Silence' before it gets published! I want it to remain a complete surprise up until a few days before release... certainly dependent on whether I can secure who I want to secure. The interviewee in question IS a BIG DRAW within the furry community throughout the world, and they're certainly a hero to me, so I'm gonna gear myself up to send said person an email in the next few days once I've got the confidence to do so.

As for an article, ideas-wise I'm struggling. If all goes to plan, this interview should be large-scale enough to stand as my main contribution to the issue. But, no answers! Just clues. And not very good ones, either! :P

13. The only good thing I can think about that Entourage episode is that it got me motivated to write my article, even though the Furry Sociological Survey is yet to be published.

The article is finished, but if the survey does get published before the writing deadline (which in my opinion appears to be unlikely), I may want to work it into my article.

14. Here's some good news. A furry Wikipedia article has made to the front page of the site. The article is about Furry Tales, the furry musical. Not only is the article on the front page, but so is a photo of the creators.

Sadly, this has lead to an increase in vandalism of furry Wikipedia articles, including a current attempt to delete the Furry Tales article.

EDIT: Just as I finished typing this, I went to Wikipedia and the article is no longer on the front page. However, if you go to the article's talk page, you can see that it has been mentioned on the front page.

15. Yikes! Less than 2 weeks to go folks! I need to buckle down, been too busy to get much done recently!

16. Furtean Times Issue 3 - Attack of the Drama Llama is now online. It's painfully lightweight in comparison to edition 2, but it makes for compelling reading at least.

17. The new format seems to work for me. Good work Tori.
