  1. I'm hereby opening the thread for Issue 2 discussion, thus allowing us to see each others' projects as and when they're in progress.

I've currently got that Top 100 Furry Characters thing on the backwarmer, whilst thinking about perhaps doing some extended 'staff' profiles.

  2. Ok, had Java off so my last post didn't happen

I found this site after my friend e-mailed me the link, and thought I'd add something. I did a one page artical on fursuit construction. I was going to add tutorials, but there's loads of them online. Here's a link to a png format of it. I picked appart one of the images from the issue 1 pdf to get the formating right:

Edit: Link removed incase of format changes.

  3. Here's something we should talk about. Biased reporting of furries in the media.

I just found today this article about the furry fandom in The Sun. It is the usual thing, people in fursuits yiffing each other. It's just awful!

GAHHH! I HATE it when they do this. My biggest peeve in the world is someone who makes a biased decision without taking note of any of the evidence; and The Sun are regular culprits of this twattery. Re: my article in ish 1, how the hell are British furries expected to exist when you've got sensationalist bullshit being pumped out by the media, anti-glorifying and generalising a theme with which they care only for for the 'juicy' bits. The tabloid media is destroying the world,a nd has been doing since the printing press was invented (FURRY media, however, is a different matter ;)).

I LOVE how the Sun chooses to only focus on the yiff elements, and positively classes furcons as large scale 'sex-meets'. Oh, the amount of effort that went into researching that article must've been horrendous! It's SO well read-up on, and doesn't insult every single person in the fandom whatsoever! [/sarcasm]

Seriously, with coverage like this, it's easy to see why it's hard to be a BritFur when the public are having these vague generalisations being fed to them through drips. Rant over!

DEFINITELY something to cover for mediaphile :D

    • 82% of furries don't have a fursuit.
    • Around 90% earn less than $50,000.

  9. Thanks Mister Chained Wolf. Although the Ursa Major Awards were already going to be covered in the mag, it's good to know about the Furry Survey awards.

And we're on the Ursa Majors?

Yes. I should know, I asked them to put it on the Recommended Anthropomorphics List. If you want to put something on the list, you can send them an email.

  11. Something I should have probably posted earlier.

A thread about the furry genre has been started on the website for QI. There are currnetly looking for things beginning with "F", and I started this thread (under my real name, Ian Dunn).

If were are lucky, QI might mentions us furries in Series F, and favourably.

  14. The final copy of the second Furtean Times is now being compiled. Diesel is due to have the main report in by Wednesday and the rest of the pages have been sorted and proof read. The Chained Wolf has been credited in the news section for his help as well as for his own report.

Unfortunately due to technical reasons (*cough* lost the file *cough*) we will NOT be printing Anthrahsia in this edition; author Ember has been notified (he's lost the file too.) The new section - "In The Back" - is a bit dry right now, which is a bad thing. Currently with "WTF?! Furries?", "Noodles' Puzzle Corner" and... well that's it. Could use s'more stuff if possible!
